Well Maintained Bike Library Launch

The Well Maintained Bike Library at the Well @ Haw Hill Park was launched on the 23rd March 2016 at the Well's Easter event.  Pictured left to right, Mayor Denton Jones with Volunteer Alan Hopkins - aka The Bikeman and Volunteer, Mike Child.

Funding was granted by Yorkshire Bank through Welcome to Yorkshire to enable the Well Project to start the bike library.  The name 'Well Maintained' came from one of the Well's longest volunteers and supporters, Mr Alan Dinsdale, a great friend to the Well.  Bikes have been donated from the local community and we now have a good stock of bikes - some are ready to go, some need repairs.

The Bike Library operates in the same way a book library does - completely free of charge! Yes that's right - it's free to hire a bike from us.  We currently offer long or short term hires.  We aim to get more families cycling to improve lifestyle, health and social inclusion.  Get in touch for more information.

We offer maintenance advice on your own bikes and will be offering Bike Maintenance Courses, cycling proficiency courses for youngsters and charity bike rides to help the Well raise much needed funds.

If you would like to donate a bike, get in touch, we may even be able to arrange collection.  If you would like to hire a bike, come down during our opening times, Tuesday's 5pm to 7pm and Friday's 3pm to 5pm with your ID and we are sure we can send you peddling on your way!
