BOARD TRUSTEES
The Well Project is a community centred charity based in Normanton, West Yorkshire. We work across the whole community providing positive activities for all to engage with.
We have
two buildings situated at different ends of the town; both offer a weekly
programme of activities built on the needs and feedback of our community. In
addition we run the Normanton Foodbank, where we supply people with emergency
food for 3 days – we are one of 400 foodbanks who supply people in crisis with
food.
The project started over seven years ago as a detached youth project, run by volunteers from the back of a minibus. The volunteers started the work as a direct response to increasing reports of anti-social behaviour from young people across the town. Working for over two years from the back of a minibus, our volunteers went out onto the streets of Normanton and engaged with young people who were hanging around on the streets with nothing to do and nowhere to go. This work proved to be incredibly successful and developed into the purchase of a building from which we could have a permanent base for our work, this also gave us the opportunity to expand our work to offer further activities to the wider community. We now have a second building from where we have hosted a variety of youth clubs, OAP friendship groups, coffee mornings, walking groups, counselling spaces, budgeting and debt help.
We are now looking for an additional 2 trustees to join our Board. These are ideal roles for individuals who have values which match ours, and who want to use their skills and knowledge to improve peoples’ lives.
