Soup Well Opens at the Well @ Haw Hill

The Soup Well opened at the Well @ Haw Hill Park on 8th October 2016 to provide a hot meal and improve social isolation aimed at people in our community.

Completely free for those attending, volunteers including Deb Atkinson, Kate Penrose and Pat Hartley, made delicious homemade soups and desserts for all.  Greggs in Normanton donated fresh bread rolls.

Feedback: One couple said 'the food was delicious and helped me have a day off from cooking for me and my husband.  Sometimes I'm too tired to cook a hot meal for both of us and it's good to take a break'.  Another gentleman said 'this has given me the chance to get out of the house and meet new people - they are the only people I see from week to week'.

In the sessions that followed numbers of people attending grew and it became apparent there was a larger need in the community.  Quickly outgrowing the Well @ Haw Hill Park, the Well Project joined forces with Normanton Town Council, namely Mayor Denton Jones, Cllr Carol Moran and Cllr Hazel Jones to set up a joint venture.
