St Mary Magdalene's Church, Altofts, brought the community together this October by asking people to donate toilet rolls to the Harvest Festival Collection which would be donated to the Normanton Food Bank.
The response was overwhelming with an amazing amount of toilet rolls being donated, 1160 to be exact - we counted them! Weighing in at just over 175kg the toilet rolls were collected from the display in Church by volunteers at the Well Project.
Volunteers, June Townend and Christine Shaw were amazed with the amount donated saying 'This collection is fantastic, what a great idea - people have been so generous'.
The Normanton Food Bank receives a lot of donations of food, but toiletries are often overlooked with toilet rolls usually being on the 'low stock' list. With this huge donation, the food bank won't have to worry about supplying families in need with toilet rolls for quite a while.
Thank you to everyone who supported this collection and donated.
